I used to build a little 6-1/2" two-way with a Vifa horn tweeter, it was about 90dB/W/1M.
When crossed at 110hz to a high powered sub it could really punch and slam with only an 80W/channel amplifier, in a large (20'x24') garage no less.

Question: how loud does it have to be to actually feel it in your chest?
I can (theoretically) hit 109dB in room, yet I doubt I'm even close. Sure, the floor shakes (I'm on the first floor), stuff vibrates a little, but visceral impact? Nope.

i can feel it well in my chest at ~85db using my reference system. (+- 2db 16Hz-22kHz) below 85 it's still there just not really tactile.
used Sublime - Garden grove, good uncompressed kit recording.
