That's in real life, the world of reproduction/amplified events has historically shifted it up into these fundamental's harmonics [mid-bass] to keep speaker system size, power requirements at least semi-acceptable as much as practical, though in recent years due to the advent of really high power and speakers able to handle it down low, there's been some willing to pay the price to get a more realistic reproduction of life.

Yes as far as I know its there. What we think as bass 20-40Hz is not so in music. That's sub bass. Punch is higher. Most PA brick limit at 40Hz with controllers.

No. Chest is punch. 20Hz its drone like earthquake. Must be wrong. When a heavy truck passes resonating the house, do you feel it in your chest? A kick drum hits there.
P.S. They could be quoting that frequency range for chest resonance from medical experiments using accelerometers and contact resonators exciting the body from the back as I have seen now by googling it. That is much different than standing in front of a PA and what little or zero content of those frequencies belongs to most music originally. If true, we should get that sensation on piano full left hand and organ music in church. No rock band sound should ever do it.
You need both frequency ranges, 23-35Hz for the chest cavity resonance of men and women and 120-180 for the "kick" or tympanic resonance i.e. chest surface.
warning: high SPL at 4-16Hz can cause hyperventilation because of involuntary excitation of tympanic diaphragm.

Yup. All the physical kick sensations are between 80-140Hz. All it takes to prove it is a big rig and a good EQ.

That sounds like the best combination for maybe creating a totally frightening experience. I had such a sensation like the vibes were scaring my very soul when I stood before the L-Acoustics dV-SUB array doing the lows for dV-DOSC at an old Massive Attack gig. Still, even that system is quoted 40Hz -3dB and recommended to be 4th order limited at 30Hz. The known ''chest surface'' hit sensation is really high there, everybody who tweaked EQ during setting the drummer on sound check FOH position knows that. Looks like having SPL at the very lows too and an infra bass band like Massive is of much more effect indeed. Cavity+surface=scary, but not met and fed through that often. As for trousers flapping, can't tell, I have to go to a big gig wearing a bell bottoms Elvis suit and report back.🙂

Plus, the dv-Sub is an inherently cardioid design, so you can get those levels within that freq band without killing the monitor guy. 😀
