i know you normally talk about new inventive ways but i was wondering if you had any input on using a 4 inch screen. Would a 10 inch or bigger screen improve my quality>? I plan on using something like this
400w mh-----frensal----lcd----lens
im also working on a reflector for behind the mh although i saw some are sold with metal reflectors already on them...thanks for any imput....here are the lense and lcd i have picked out so far🙄

I suggest you do some searching on the forum before you post a whole new thread on topics that are covered "in depth" in their niche categories. Fujinon len's are noted in MANY areas of the forum. As are the low res "in car" tv's. We all came here to learn something...not to be spoonfed.
learn something new every day

Please do us a favour and ask the mod's to delete this thread, it is a pointless one and takes up space in the forum. I dont mean to be rude, so I hope you dont mistake my response as such.

obviously i have read through the forum.....but every person on the forum disagrees with someone else.....and also....no one talks about what they put together...just becuase i find the best of each thing doesn't mean they will work together....but you should know this right?
one more thing.....it seems to be that most of your time is spent posting messages about what you have bought and when its coming in the mail....that helps no one.thx for your time
if you had read ...
If you had read through the forum you would have gathered that the overall impression is that the in car LCD tv's have far too low res to build a satisfactory projector. You also would have learned that the fuji len's from surplus shed is most likely from a CRT PJ (thus the optics are designed for the curvature of a CRT tube) and as such would probably give you a really nice "fish eye" projection with dark corner's.
I give updates on my gear purchases so that the folks here know what I am doing, and how things are progressing (thus showing things such as project costs to date and difficulties in part location and importation) .
I will be posting full details on my setup as the equipment arrives and the PJ starts to take shape.
Have you noticed that no one else has bothered to answer your post? Do you wonder why?

have YOU read through the forum?
if you had, you would see that many people have been very happy with their low resolution setups because of the smaller size, and less possible heat.
You would also know that the fujinon ("noted in MANY areas of the forum") lenses are thought to be made for flat CRT's, and may well work for LCD's.
Not to mention there are a few people who have gotten good projection from the lenses made for curved CRTs.
The reason no one has answered is because no one has answers. No one has come forward using a fujinon and 4" panel.. many people are talking about it, and ordering parts. This thread might even act as a place for them to talk about their progress once they get their parts.
When you finally stopped being mean and tried to offer some support, it was incorrect.
So, follow suit with the rest of the forum members, and please dont stick your head in when you dont know about the topic, and you dont have anything encouraging to say. It is hard enough to get people exploring without your attitude putting people down.

The intent of my post was to point out that there are threads that explore each of these ideas. Or should we re-name this thread " DIY 4 inch in-car TV with fujinon lens projector". The observations I made came after HOURS of reading the forum, I never once claimed to "have the answer" I did however give an accurate account of the data that I have read. If someone wants to build a low res PJ with an "in car TV" then more power to them. I for one will not sacrifice quality to that extent.
I dont believe I put Jo3L down. Maybe pointed out that his happy find just might have a dark side? You bet I did! And I will continue to advise people that those little TV's are low res. I think the idea of a SMALL panel PJ is probably the best way to go, if I could have found one that was worth buying (that was affordable) I most certainly would have bought one. I followed with great interest the posts that centred around an extremely tiny LCD which if it was affordable it would have potentially have worked in a conventional slide PJ or 16mil unit. The spec sheet on this tiny screen was phenominal!
So was the price! HIGH that is! as I recall it was around the 7 or 800 dollar mark? or was it much more... the point is most people that get one of these TV's find out prety fast that they wish they had gone for a better panel.
I admit I have found one person on the forum that has said he is using a fujinon with success (albeit limited success by his own admition) Hats off to muzzman! He at least did some research and took a chance, as I have also.
The point of my original post still stands, there is no point in opening a new thread (gee zardoz why dont you just go and open a thread for those high power flouro bulbs you found, instead of repeat posting to individual threads where it may actually have relevance? ) for topics allready covered just so you can fish for some easy answers.
and thats all I have to say on this thread

Personally I think 4 1/2 would be a tad too small... the quality would not be very pretty once you try to get a big picture.
My recommendation would be to go with something atleast 6-9 inches... They have some screens 6-7 inches in VGA format. I'd look out for one of those instead 😀
but yeah the bigger the screen the better the quality... well then again. this is on average... like i mentionned you can get a 7inch VGA screen... though if you can, you could always get a 10inch screen capable of 800x600 in stead of simple VGA.
whatever you do, have fun doing it, that's always key 🙂 hehe
I will NOT -I repeat *NOT*- sit here and let you all say bad stuff about those low res lcd's!!! I have bought one... I will use it in my setup and oh boy, it will be one hell of a PJ 😉 😉
... No...I have to agree that these LCD's are lower-res, but I did some tests yesterday in a temporary cardboard setup and I must say: damn such a thrill to see your first +/- result 🙂 Okay: it was no IMAX image, but still: seeing my head spread across the wall (ehm you know what I mean) about 50" (like I said: first tests...) It was great!
My results also taught me that you shouldnt use a 500Watt halogen in a small closed case, even with a hellova fan on it: my fresnel now has an artistic opaque blob hanging in the middle and the 500Watt bulb looks as if it has been barbecued...
BUT it still was beautiful 😉
Moral of the story= use hi res lcd or low res lcd, just go ahead with your project and see the wonders of ... stuff ... it's fun either way!
