I'm looking for a cheap and easy way to insulate stators made from uninsulated fencing wire.
I even have my own an idea! Could a polyester or a epoxy gelcoat be used for it? Have anyone tried? I like the smell of polyester in the morning

Something that creates a thick layer fast...

what type of fence wire are you planning to use?
Is it the kind with 1/4" or 1/8" square holes?
If so I am curious of your results as I had thought of using such material also.
Anything polyester or even epoxy might work well.
Try to find the dielectric constant and dielectric breakdown of the coating you are planning to use and that should give you an idea of how good it will be.
other wise just try it and see.
I would like very much to see your results. jer
