Cheap sub amplification?

I'm building a cheap and easy dipole subwoofer inspired by Siegfried Linkwitz and this very long thread started by Chops a couple of years ago. But now I need to choose my method of amplification. It's only going to cost me about $60 for the pair of finished subs (2 drivers in each), so I'd like to keep the amplification cheap also, but I realize dipoles generally need a fair amount of power, which may not be so cheap. I'm mostly just soliciting for suggestions from those well versed in amplification, which I am not. If there's a cheap way to power these (only to about 95-100db or so - it's for near field listening), I'd really like to know about it.
