Hello,
Can any recommendations be made for particular cheap stuffing materials? I hear pillow stuffing is a popular solution. Polyfill / wool and other 'real' dampening materials are not an option as the price will hit the sky with two times 40 gallons (170 l) to fill... (multi-driver arrangement with six 8" woofers for each channel, closed cabinets).
Thanks,
Simon

If you have closed cabinets, then I would go for fibreglass insulation. It gets an undeservedly bad press, but it's dead cheap and works fine.

I've lined the walls of speaker cabinets with carpet underlay with good results. As for stuffing cabinets, I just use some "quilt batting". I find it to work just as well as fibreglass insulation, but you don't have to wear gloves to touch it.
