If you have a chance, read my article Testing One... Two... Three (available free at Linear Audio's website) to get a flavor of what you'll want to do. It's easier than most people think, BUT does require some attention in the execution. Still, a lot easier than hiring an EE or trying to track down subtle problems with a voltmeter!

It was mentioned here that hardware sample rate and bit depth should be set automatically.
Can you please explain how to do this.(I can only choose on the foobar output between 8, 16, 24, 32 bit)
I'm running an old laptop Windows XP using foobar200 into a Musical Fidelity V-90 DAC using the MF driver.
