Apologies for this shameless plug. I have a pair of shackman speakers for sale on ebay. They have fully working electrostatic HF panels which could be incorporated into a hybrid design.
I'm offering postage on the electrostatic unit only.
I don't expect them to go for big money, but I'd like to see them go to a good home!

Hi,
having bought a pair of similar speakers years ago thought
I'd offer some info for anyone who may be intrigued. The unit
recessed in the box arrangement sounds dreadful. The boxes
I got were very poor quality, including the joints, the port
cum carry handle looks familiar, best not to consider them.
The bass units a pair of paper coned Elacs. The speaker I had
had one 8" unit in it with and inductor and resistor to presumably
implement BSC then run full range to c/o with the treble unit.
Though a decent size the Shackman unit is not push-pull,
itssingle ended. Consequently linear excursion is low and
its apparent frequency range is similar to a tweeter.
Sensistivity is not high, ~ mid/late 80's as I remember.
Possibly make a nice pairing with a smallish OB
metal cone mid, mounted OB itself of course.
🙂/sreten.

I completely agree with Sreten's comments re the cabinet. But I do think that these are capable of good results, used as tweeters, in a well designed system.
Hey, if they don't sell I'll be straiight back on here asking for advice on MY new ESL project! Trouble is I need cash more than I need another project...

Oh, and incidentally I'd guess that these would have higher sensitivity than that Sreten quoted. The pair of paper-coned drivers in the large cabinet are going to be pretty efficient, so in order for the esl unit to keep up I'd expect at least late 80s rather than mid - I could be wrong though. The crossover is simply an inductor on the woofers, there's no resistors or anything to drop their overall output.
