Can't say I'm particularly impressed. But that possibly says more about how you have to be very specific with the input than what the chatbot can do.

This basically takes the research part out of internet searching. Instead of searching for something, and weighing the veracity of various sources, and assembling an informed opinion, the AI does the research and credibility check part for you. Clearly, the AI's not very smart yet but that's changing rapidly. Will you trust the AI to do this part of the work for you? That's a powerful tool, but you have to trust the AI is thinking in a way you agree with... Different AI's will have different takes on things.
Right now the AI's are very much a pastiche of human knowledge, it's assembling ideas from various sources and cliffs-notes-ifying it for you. But eventually it's going to have more and more original thinking.
Out of curiousity i asked the microsoft ChatBot to give me the necessary turns to obtain 15H of inductance when wound on a transformer core that has a relative permeability of 500, a magnetic path length of 34cm and a cross sectional area of 13.4 square cm.
He came up with the correct formula but the answer he gave was really dissapointing.
His snswer:
Approximatly 23.8 turns.
Bummer.
I told him that 2380 would sound ok but 23.8 is certainly off by a factor of hundert or so.
He insisted that 23.8 is correct and i must be wrong.
I calculated myself and told him my result of 2461 turns.
He tried to convince me, by various ways, that 23.8 is correct.
I got tired of it, but asked him polytly to contact his programmers to correct the errors he made in the calculation.
