Hello DIYAudio community,
Couple of years ago I’ve designed a DSP Class-D amplifier called Centure 21. It has got ADAU1452 DSP, TAS5548 as I2S->PWM modulator and 4 output channels, with 4 more available on the "PWM" header.
and photo of the prototype:
on the left there is Amanero header, which can be used for amanero module to have just USB 2 ch input, or my York interface. There was also header on the left side with S/PDIF and I2S which are connected to ADAU1452. The purpose is to connect daugter boards with different input interfaces: ADC, AES/EBU, TOSLINK etc. The module was used primarily for home audio.
After some discussion here on DIYaudio with @florentg (https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...-dsp-bluetooth-aux.376006/page-2#post-7719605) we meet in person played with the Centure 21 and discussed what we could do in the field of DSP amps, the specs and software and ways to build something better. Recently TI announced a new amplifier IC TAS6584 which basically combines I2S→PWM modulator and the output stage but also have some quite interesting features, like the H-Class power supply control.
So a new device was developed 🙂
Structure of Centure 24:
The structure of new version is quite similar to previous one: there is DC-DC for output stages, a DSP chip and MCU to control and monitor the system. The main difference is in more advanced diagnostic and monitoring of the sysem, thanks to TAS6584. Also since TAS6584 implement H-Class control together with the DC-DC, this fetature is also available and can be enabled/disabled via software. Here is demo from TI: https://www.ti.com/video/6287333584001
This time the module designed such that it can be also used as the plate amp: all the interfaces (S/PDIF, I2S, I2C) are routed to headers and supposed to be connected to interface board (which is not ready yet):
The amplifier has 4 channels which can be configured as 4xBTL, 2XBTL + PBTL or 2xPBTL. So it allows fleaxible configuration for multiway systems. The nominal output power would be around 200W for all channels combined, the peak power of course would be higher. Not all measurements are done, only up to 100W/channel.
There is also software development going on which is based on the York interface (thread on DIYaudio: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...tichannel-input-output-interface-york.413504/)
Live monitor of Class-H operation:
Measurements, experiments with the H-Class control and config software features will be posted later.

Excellent!
I will buy 2 as soon as you are offering to sell.
The TAS6684 is a drop-in replacement for the TAS6584 that has slightly higher current handling and better thermal monitoring (1 sensor per channel as opposed to 1 sensor for the whole chip).

This device apparently has potential military applications, thus making its full datasheet confidential?Recently TI announced a new amplifier IC TAS6584...
As far as aI can understand it:
No, that part is for ALL detailed information for ANY TI products, because of regulations.
The TAS658X and the TAS668X is under NDA because of other reasons.
The detailed info on TAS6684 looks good, that much I can tell you.

No, it is just not fully released yet. I think they' make documentation open after some time. This device apparently has potential military applications, thus making its full datasheet confidential?
Hey there, I want that board so bad! Recently, I am trying to build a board using 3x TPA3255, PCM4252 DACs, and a ADI DSP (ADAU1452 or ADAU1467). I gave up using the TAS6684 series of chips because of the NDAs (I am trying to make a open source board) but really do want to use them otherwise due to i2s input (removing the need for external DACs), and how this allows for a smaller board layout, in addition to the smaller inductors allowed by the 2.1mhz switching. I really want to use the chips now since the large size of the board I am trying to design with the TPA3255 is going to be complicated and large (leading to higher PCB costs that just skyrocketed recently).
I hope you can sell this board at some point or that TI makes this amazing chip public to everyone. sigh, It's a perfect chip but it is only the NDAs stopping us 🙁

The NDA is not a big issue IMO, they just want a bit of control over their own tech.
I can understand why you would think it is difficult, looking at it from the open source angle, but it takes a lot of money to develop things like this, and having them open source is not without issues.
That said, I am a bit curious about the development of this design @eclipsevl

Hello,
Yes, there is not much news. There are no issues with hardware and the main thing to move the project forward is the input interface board and software design. I've been using York Nano as the interface for both audio and DSP config but there is no analog input option yet.
@thebiasbios
I have couple of spare boards assembled, if you are ok to deal with unfinished software - I can sell you one or two. Please send a pm.

Thank you for the information.
Personally I think that analog input is irrelevant, users that wish to use analog inputs can buy AD boards from other sources.
It could take a lot of effort to make some interface board to toggle between multiple sources with different standards, most people in this day and age probably have a long wishlist for functionality, yet when all is said and done they end up using a single source.
I think a single digital input is "good enough", SPDIF, either through coax or Toslink is a must for ease of use permanent living room setups.
USB and Bluetooth would fall under "nice to have".
Analog inputs fall under "some people might want it but not a necessity".

Then why would they directly deny me datasheet access simply from my "My TI website profile" without asking if I would be willing to sign an NDA?The NDA is not a big issue...
I do not know the specifics of your case, I thought it was really cumbersome at first but after registering my company profile and entering an email address that had a more proper domain (not gmail/yahoo/etc), everything was available for sending in an application. There is still no guarantee that you will get access, but I was finally able to apply, and the application was handled by an actual human being, I know that sounds crazy but it's true. Then why would they directly deny me datasheet access simply from my "My TI website profile" without asking if I would be willing to sign an NDA?
AFAIK you need two things:
1. Company profile.
2. Company email.
Have to tick the right boxes when applying, and there might be some questions.
Edit:
I really wanted to get access to the documents for TIDA-020033 but that didn't work out unfortunately.
