Centering eccentric vinyl records

Sadly, eccentric records even can be found from companies that one wouldn't expect. One of my most expensive records, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Sheherazade, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra/Dr. Fritz Reiner, Chesky RC4, shows some severe eccentricity that is clearly visible - and audible, of course. What a pity, 'cause the recording itself, originally done in 1959 by RCA staff for their Red Seal label, is excellent!

Best regards!

Hi! Yes, it is a shame and totally unnecessary. I would report it to the retailer. Maybe he can make sure you get a replacement from another run as all records from the faulty pressing run will have the same defect. So a replacement by simply giving the same issue he has in stock most likely comes from the same run. Good luck! Greetings from Holland.

The problem has always been there. Pressing plants say that their equipment is state of the art. Records slowly become mass produced products again. That doesn't promiss a lot for the future I fear. But there are also good exeptions however. Record Industry from Haarlem, Holland take great care in what they do. Their products are a beyond most other plants' pressings. Another good one is Pallas from Germany. Bye!

Familiar refrain it seems.
Recently a Canadian entrepreneur announced similar brochure babblings.
Claiming his automated LP factory will be entirely state of the art roboticised The best possible Vinyl plant in the world.
Implication being; they are prepping for an 'of course' premium price, likely to the dim.. until they lose interest and go back to their phones, streamers
Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'm embarassed that indeed the fossile that carries my name has been fooled by Chesky's name and it's then (in the 1990ies) reputation 😱.

But CK4 keeps to be one of my very favourite records, though, 'cause listening to it literally makes my skin goose-bubbling and my moods slowing down 😉.

Best regards!

That's what music is all about, it can literally take you anywhere. Or it can drive you nuts, these two facts go always together. This is what's happening today on our radio, everyday the same stuff, be it top 40 or classical music. So what can there be nicer than putting a record on the platter and enjoy.......Greetings from Holland. Willem.
