So Celestion recently hosted a speaker design contest (ended yesterday) for their CF1840JD 18" drivers.
now... overall, this driver looks like an ideal 40hz bassreflex dual 18, (volume aroune 375 liters) with a fairly low driver mass, but that seemed a bit too simple to win a contest, so I designed a dual tapped horn in about 4 days.
Its pretty big (no where near as big as a FLH would be for this cut off) but the results are decent, about 2 to 3 db in sensitivity advantage. dimensions (external) are 60w X 38d X 24h. limit is around 73 v.
Anyways... If I DO win... I'll probably just build bass reflex boxes, but it was a fun exercise in speed of design/fold with an unknown driver.
