Celestion CDX1 1010

The Celestion cdx1 1010 controller is recommended for use in a 3-way speaker HIFI system?. I'm thinking of cutting it from 6000hz-20000hz.

Look for a driver with a 1" exit and a 34 or 44 mm voice coil. That is the largest size that is usable as a Hi-Fi tweeter. Check the frequency response in the data sheet. It should extend up to at least 15 kHz or the upper limit of your hearing range. If you have sensitive hearing, the driver should not have a nasty diaphragm resonance at 10 kHz, which most titanium diaphragm drivers have. You can also spot this resonance in the impedance graph.

An example that satisfies these points is the SB Acoustics BIANCO-34CD-PK.

You could get inspiration from the Econowave.

The CDX1-1430 has the nicest response regardless of a metal diaphragm. However, all those responses are highly dependent on the horn that was used. If you're not using the same horn with whatever CD you like, based on its graph, you're shooting in the dark.
