The VFD is to bright for me! I would prefer the LCD instead, do you have it in stock and at what cost incl. shipping?

Will the module work without the display connected, have not tried yet? Need to know so nothing breaks.

About the remote receiver: Can I have a red ( or another colour) see-through plexi in front of it?

Hi Lars

Sorry for the VFD Display isn't good for you,but you can set the bright with the remote which a key on the left last line.And the LCD version is available too.If you need to get just a LCD is 12USD total.
Sorry again,the CDROM Control Kit can't work without a VFD or a LCD.and the remote just black.

It can work without connecting keyboard.The LCD almost the same size to the VFD.I can give u some pictures to have a look.

I found the OVK brand on the internet. Unfortunately, they do not seem to have a distributer in the Netherlands... can you ship one? 🙂

Ah, that's what that key is for (the one at the bottom left of the remote with a radiation symbol). Just tried it. You get three levels of brightness and display off, so if the VFD bothers you, just turn it off. So every single key in the remote works. Very good.

Regarding CDROM, DVDROM, every one works, but they all some "problems", some shake, some are noisy, the one I liked (one DVDROM made by Hitachi) was quiet but did not have digital out, so I opened it up, looked up the DAC chip, searched in the web for the datasheet and did some minor surgery to enable and connect the digital out.
