Do you have an Oscilloscope?
Maybe worth getting a cheap one so you can do some signal checks to see what is being fed to that Motor Drive OP Amp.
Don't give up just yet, there's got to be a solution to this!

Hello. Same issue here years later. Can anyone else confirm bad motors in these drives. I have a Rotel RCD-970bx with the no spins. Laser is good, belts good..
Maybe this is a high failure part.
Thanks guys.

Ok, so I went ahead and pulled the drive on this to repair a supposed bad spindle motor when I found it had slid down and was rubbing on the tray. Upon fixing this problem , now the player does not want to open for me like it did before. What did I do? Not sure. Everything seems to be in order but the player continues to try to close but the motor wont go the other direction like it's not finding home or hitting the relay leaf switch. I see the copper contacts underneath but hard to tell if it's doing its job. Please help or maybe point me toward the link for players that use the CDM9. I want to try to learn about good drives that use glass lenses and stick with them.
