CD960 CDM1 cam problem

Hi, i replaced the 2 belts for the tray drive on my Philips CD960 and is working. The problem is that now when a CD is put in the tray and the play button pressed, the tray goes in fine and there is a motor sound with a bit of a whine but after a couple of seconds the tray is rejected and an error indicator shows on the display. This happens with or without a CD in the tray. I have taken the lid off the unit and now if i put a CD in the tray (power off), push it back in and turn the cam to drop the CD onto the motor then turn the power back on the CD plays perfectly. If i reject the CD and then press play to load the CD again i have the original problem again. The motor whines once the tray is all the way in but is rejected with an error. I also note the the cam that drops the CD does not turn fully so that the CD cannot turn - hence the whining sound. This seems to be the problem as far as i can see. The belts seem to be OK on the CD holdown mechanism. Can anyone give me some pointers as to fixing this problem. Thanks.

Thanks Stephensank, i have been distracted by the other 999 things i gotta do but i'll look into it in the next couple of days to see if i have moved anything when i replaced the belts on the tray. Its a great unit and been trouble free until the belts needed changing. I'll post up my findings - fingies crossed its something simple.

Well that took me a bit longer than expected - had to relocate. Anyway, back on the case and have resolved the problem. I promised to post up my findings for anyone else with CD960 (CDM1 unit) tray cam problems and here are the results. It seems that the 2 belts were slipping although i had marked the pulleys on the cam lift drive side and could see no slipping. This meant that the cam did not rotate fully and hit the 2 leaf switches to indicate to the CD player the tray was fully retracted and the CD holder down. This causes an error which ejects the CD tray. Pressing Play or Close tray buttons ultimately ends in the tray being ejected. If a CD is loaded, the Close tray button pressed and the power turned off as soon as the Tray is fully retracted then manually rotate the cam so that the leaf switches are operated. Now turn the power back on, the CD can be played as normal. The fix - Replaced the 2 belts and all is good.
