i own a philip cd930 and it is starting to give me problems.
when reading copied CDs, it tends to crackle hiss and distort the upper end. ontop of that, it will track skip when the disc are alittle dirty...
is there any solution to this other than changing the lens?

Assuming you know how to clean the lens, this is the first thing to try.
Also, do you burn your cd's at low enough speed? I'd say 4X should be ok.

i`ve cleaned the lens🙂
i still have problems reading cd which have some fingerprint marks. i can`t read them unlike the newer players that don`t have problems reading them.

Second best bet is the lens. According to my list it's a CDM9.44.
You could try to measure these values who come from my repair database (never did it myself):
HF signal on TJ203: 1.4 Vpp
Laser power: 0.15 mW
Height disk platter: 15 mm.
