Good sirs of diyaudio. I require your assistance.
My Marantz cd6000 ose limited edition is no longer working.
Fault description:
screen does not display, no power light, none of the control buttons on the front work, remote does no work.
When powered on I can hear the transformer power up.
I have had a multimeter on the back of the front panel at the point which the "ribbon" connects. The following voltages were measured.
Top row of pins 0v 0v 5v 5v 0v 0v 0v 0v 21.7v
bottom row of pins 0v 0v 1.2v 5v 5v 5v 5v 21.7v 26.2v
Does anyone have the service manual for this model to check the values?
Has anyone experienced this problem before?
Has anyone got any ideas where to start to find the problem?
Kindest regards
goodlife

Hi.
Alongside the transformer are 2 small round devices. Fuses !
They supply the +5v and the 10v supplies.
Check them with your meter - they are a little undersized

thanks for the reply.
not used to fuses like that.
had them both off the board and tested them. Both are fine.
Any other ideas?

goodlife,
I have the cd6000 service manual. Its 5.5mb drop me a line and I'll mail it
what do you mean you can HEAR the transformer power up? It does sound though, like your not getting any juice to the front board.
I'm sure you've tried this already but make sure everything's properly connected. I lost the left channel on mine, turned out to be due to the glue on the HDAM had gone and it had come loose. About the easiest fix ever... 🙂

when i say i can hear it, i mean there is a slight hum that comes with all transformers when powered up.
Its only audible when you put your ear next to it.

hi.
Next, you should check the voltages on the ac supply to the front panel. this is easiest at the ends of resistors 3118, 3119
Also check the voltage at the regulator 7119
The output should be -26v
