I noticed the cd tray will not open at all when I first got the unit, looked inside and there was a broken rubber band, I replaced the band now it will not open unless I click on the "open" switch first and quickly give a little push on the tray faceplate as seen on the video.
Yamaha CRX-E150 cd tray won't open - YouTube
what is the likely cause?, shall I tray a little larger band? I am a novice as far as electronic but can try to replace the band...

The loading belt should not be too tight.
Just enough to eliminate slippage.
Also, the tiny open/close limit switches tend to be dirty over time, and need flushed with some contact spray to clean the internal contacts.

will try a larger belt, will have to get contact spray...
😉
got it fixed!!, did not change the belt, not sure exactly what I did but when I took it apart and put it together with contact spray it worked. I don't think it was the contact though...
Hey, I have this same model, the CRX-E150. I am also having the same issues. You wouldn't happen to have a link to a loading belt I can buy for mine, would you? Preferably in the US as that's where I am. 😅The loading belt should not be too tight.
