Hello all

I am also a newbie. I made my apprenticeship in electronic 8 years ago but never used it again (practicaly) because i changed to IT. So my skills need a big refresh and i am ready to extend it much more. I will try not to ask question, which are already discussed in other tasks but sometimes it may happen..just point me to the right links. 😉
I would appreciate any comment as long it is construktive.
Thanks in advance.
I am a big HIFI enthusiast and now its time to spend money to DIY instead of commercial products.
Let's go

I would like to build my own new DIY DAC for my CD-Pro2:
Money is no object. Time also not 😀 😀 😀

I would like use the IS2 directly from CD-Pro2. (If this is not recommended, pls. give advice)
DAC: CS43122,PCM1702,PCM1704,PCM1792😕
Tube Filter
Tube Outputstage
and if somebody has developed/expierience evenTube Power Supply
😕

Which input reciever/Filter is recommended in conjuntion with the DACs above.
I still have a vacum, its called "upsampling":bawling: For what is it good and when will it be used😕
Jitter; i am going to learn, have a theory book😎
These are some ideas. And of course only some starting points.

I would appreciate any comment, especially for sonic/audiophil aspects.

I have the speaker measurement software/hardware Laud/turtlebeach which may help in some case, who knows..

Kind regards

Elektor using PCM17xx and 24/96 HIFI-DAC is also an object for studying.

A very simple, quick and good sounding start is to get a Philips TDA1541 DAC, a bunch of batteries, some decoupling caps and two Sowter 8347 transformers for the output stage. This solution would also serve as a reference before you start building active output stages, power supplies or whatever. See http://www.geocities.com/agalavotti/zerodac.htm for more information.

I have some spare TDA1541 and could donate you one (it's Christmas time) if you are interested.

don't mention the war

There is a thread I started once, but didn't started the actual work. Maybe it's time to get back to the topic again.😉

I should have mentioned Peter Daniel
He is somewhat underestimated as a digital prophet.
He keeps a low profile.
And regarding Tubes, you have to wait and see, if Santa Claus brings Dice45 back.
I guess you know about him.

By the way:
I like
Jimmy Cliff's version of
"The Harder They Come, The Harder They Fall
One And All"

I once said:
"We Should Always put some music in our posts"
I think it could lighten up the day for some of our fellows.
And I try to live as I teach.
And you know I preach a lot.

Now some guys will immidiately try to prove I do not live according to my teachings.
But you are welcome.
You might "fall" like the wall of Jericho.

You should do whatever keep YOUR mind satisfied.
There are many roads that goes to Roma in Italy.
Either road you take that goes to Roma
will get you there.
If you can enjoy your music and feel fine, this is the main thing.

Hifi is just a tool. Not the real thing!

Like the computers only are a tools, that can bring people together.

The experience you get is the real thing! in your mind.
Even if that experience is made up of more than your hearing.

So let us never forget to have some music in our posts.
To bring some comfort and enjoyment to others.
And for not to forget the main thing.

"One things for certain, when it comes my time
I'll leave this old world with a satisfied mind"
somebody said or sang

Many Roads up to the Mountain? Or to Rome?

Hi Halojoy, After 3/4 of a bottle of wine :drunk: I am in the right mood to comment you beautiful poem.... Yes there are many roads to Rome .
People and People
What is a real thing?
It is all in the mind of the perceiver.
To satisfy the senses
The mind, the eyes, the ears.
When my time has come to leave this world I hope my mind is satisfied indeed.
I was hoping my daughter would continue my work
But that is vain hope.

Tired old man.😡

Hi Brian GT,
Haiku is that the same as Harakiri? My knowledge of Japanese is so limited......:boggled:

heh.. yeah....

harikari - suicide by slashing the abdomen
haiku - A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

another example-

japanese are strange
and harikari is bad
why not build a zen?
