My old Sony DVPNS500V is showing it's age. Is there a good CD or CD Dac in the $500 catagory that will be much much better than this old player ? Is the Music Hall C-dac15.3 a good choice or should I consider others ?
The Marantz CD6006 is a great stand alone CD player

If you want to play SACDs it does not play them The Sony you have plays DVDs SACD and CDs so want to be clear as to what you are looking for.
As for the Music Hall I haven't heard it but its not going to be near the build quality of the Marantz. but there still are quite a few out to look at Yamaha makes a good one Cambridge Audio also.
