Is it possible to buy equipement to manufacture cd.(not burning)

there is probably a lot of old used equipment on the market if you look....but you have an injection molder..small sputtering unit etc. it is a lot more than you want to think about just keeping it running.

My brother's company has two such "machines" -about a million each, if I recall correctly. He's getting ready to steal a used one frm a company that is going under for the low, low price of just $600k.

yes...it is a pretty easy process now...but you still need to have the masters and stampers made...I cannot see it being worth the effort as it is much easier to have a contract house do it all for "short" runs....
it was fun stuff to play with in the 80's....cd, write once and MO etc...3M, Philips, Dupont...they spent billions on it...product development, process development, manufacturing etc.

denton vacuum used to make teh sputtering machine..leybold (merged with balzers and then changed into something else) used to make a "mono-line)...I don't know who does it now...
