CD burning on a Kodak gold ultima/ what media/burner to use?

Hi guys


I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this ?

I still like to burn some audio cd's and came accross some Kodak gold ultima blanks it says on the box 1x-8x speed recommended .

but moder burners does not really go down to that low speed

What is your suggestion ?
Is this cds still used today by many?
What cd burner software hardware to use ?

I bought Gold Ultima many years back for computer data storage - specifically for archiving digital photographs because Kodak claimed superior disc stability and data life.

There was also a Digital Audio Gold CD-R presumably better suited to audio recording.

I also have the later Silver+Gold Ultima which boasted 1x ~ 12x Speed.

I've recorded audio on both using my old Nero software which allowed me select the drive speed, including 4x and 8x.

P.S. I'm still using that burning software on my old computer system - it is Nero Express (Nero 6 product family).

In the 'Copy CD' section at least, there is a drop down menu to select the writing speed.

thanks for the info what cd burner do you use and how did the kodak gold held up over the years?

First archives date from 2005 - discs and data still in perfect condition - I just checked!

Don't have any details of the DVD writer included with my old Compaq Presario, other than it's an 8x R+/RW+ drive.
