i have an old carver cube amp thats been sitting around for years. im not very good with amplifier internals, so i dont really know what im doing. i think somebody messed around inside of it before i purchased it used. it has never worked in my possession, but i would love to get it fixed somehow.
i was just wondering if this is a relatively simple amp, could i fix it myself with just a little knowledge? is there someone or some place i can take it to get it fixed? if i did this i would probably buy new connectors and wire, and redo everything. btw the light on the front comes on, but no sound when hooked up. also the binding posts are all messed up and barely useable.
its not in the best on shape, but with a little love i think it could be a nice little amp to have around. im more of a loudspeaker builder, and i have a 3 way center channel im currently building. i would like to use this amp to power the center channel eventually. any info is much appreciated. thanks for your time.

The Carver Cube is a 200WPC amp and many people really like it. I don't know all the versions but I do know the M400t is supposed to sound like tubes. If you don't really know anything about repairing amps then I would only do the following:
1) Buy Owners manual and determine what color the light is when amp is functional versus in protect mode... if it even has a protect mode.
2) See if there are any fuses inside that need to be replaced. Only replace with same value fuse or you could do more damage if something is wrong.
If it needs more than that I would find a competent repair shop.

i took the case off this morning. it is a m400t. i doubt its a fuse, it looks like a novice had his hands inside and tried to fix some stuff. i got the amp nearly free, so its not a huge loss. now i just gotta find a shop near me thatll fix it.
