simple way of resonance frequency measurement:
Free Air Resonance of a loudspeaker - Eddie Runner
Now use that to determine the two high peaks in impedance that comes with bass reflex enclosures. Between these peaks there is a very low impedance and that's the resonance of the total system of your enclosure. 🙂
Don't use more than 5V output from your amp to measure with earlier proposed resistance.
Exact numbers are not important as you only need to find the lowest imedance between those two peaks.
Oh right... you'll need a frequency generator on your computer to feed the amp.
Don't get tempted to up the volume! you'll fry the resistors easily.

Crowns are fine.

mmmmm. so those fags at crown must stop publshing their XLS drive cores can take 4 and 2 ohms loads... if in the real life they cant
😡 marketing vaporware bolony

It is a issue with every amp in that price range that I know of. They are just not designed to run hard at a low impedance. It will work but don't expect to pull 2000 watts out of it all night long.
I would be surprised if the Kickers would be happy with as much as it can put out anyways.

Just check craigslist for some real PA speakers if you want to do a party right.

I'm sorry about the link, it doesn't really explain how to measure.

Measuring Loudspeaker Driver Parameters explains it and more.
You might just get bitten by the DIY bug and measure your own Thiele&Small parameters. 🙂

Thanks Pal
hey i found this laying around some old boxes
they where 49.7 ohms average so with 5 i made the 10 ohm network
altough they look like 5 watts resistors
there is a sharpie next to them for size comparison

i plan to build some SS15's but my woodwork skills are lame 🙁 plus
i need to get the tools

Hey, your off then! 🙂
I wouldn't bet on the 5W rating, looks more like 2W?
Anyway, you don't need a lot of power to do this, even half a Watt would do.
A lot of measuring is done with a 1000Ω resistor too.

I'm very interested in your used method and results.
good luck.
