I have a Crunch gp3000 and a capacitor blew. A fluid came out of it. I cleaned it up with out getting any on my hands. I took out the bad capacitor and replaced it with a new one. Then I powered the amp up and I hear a pop noise in the circuit and then I started to smell some thing burning. It might have been a transistor but have not diagnosed any of the transistors yet.
The capacitor blew when the amp was on but I did not put any audio signal to it.
Does anyone know why this has happend?

If any of the output FETs are shorted it could push the full supply voltage through the cap exceeding it's voltage limit and causing it the vent.
For example, say the the power supply is +/-30V and the caps are rated at 35V; a short could cause the full 60V to be applied to the capacitors on one of the supply rails.
