If your interest in audio is changing components for more expensive components then almost any Chinese item will do, as they almost always use components which are fairly cheap. If you are interested in listening to music then read post 19.tazzo said:Is there any cheap (tube or SS) preamp that I can maybe buy to implement changes that I have mentioned?
Let's assume that one cap is "better" than another. Depending on exactly how it is used in a particular circuit, substituting one for the other could bring about a minor improvement, no change at all, or a significant deterioration in sound fidelity. Yes, a "better" cap could damage circuit behaviour if the circuit is relying (as some do, perhaps accidentally) on the less good cap. Note that if the new cap is sufficiently expensive then the buyer is likely to regard any change in sound as an improvement - human nature is like that!
today, almost all capacitors are made in China and so are cheap, who knows, even those so called "branded caps" were made in China, produced cheap, sold at a premium for those desiring those...
Ok, cheers for all the input guys, since I got the answers I was looking for I would like to declare this thread "closed" (for my part of the discussion anyway).
