hi, i have replaced the main ps 470mf 35v caps on my Marantz cd 67SE CD Player using a couple almost, new 6800 mf 80v jamicon caps i had from a toasted sub amp. the particular list of mods i am following said to use 6800mf 35v but, i had these other caps just laying around so i thought i would give them a try. of course, they were to large to mount in pc board so, i used mirror tile double sided tape to mount them as close as i could to the original mounting points. my question is, the 18 guage stranded copper wire i used is around 4 or 5 inches long. will these length of leads degrade the performance of these caps? i have placed two .1mf stacked film panasonic caps on bottom of board per, main cap. i also put a .01mf orange drop cap across the leads of the 6800 mf caps themselves, at the other end of the leads. should i maybe use some ferrite beads on these leads also? or maybe twist the leads? i plan to get some maybe, 4700 mf. 35v caps that will fit the board later on when i can. i've also, replaced the rectifier diodes for the analogue and, digital supplies with some 10 amp 100v. schottky diodes i had on hand as samples. i'd be very greatful for any advice! Thanks 🙂
you are fine
I think you are fine (would not install the beads), the long leads may increase ESR a fractional amount but you have suitable bypass caps in there too.
