I saw a pic of a DAC attached directly to a hard drive with a remote control and some video and audio outs. But I can't find it again. Please can anyone point me in the right direction ???
Hmmm the one I was looking for was a finished version of this that could play anything and even show video, had a remote as well, guess I gotta keep looking.

The Western Digital WD TV HD Media player is amazingly cheap, and plays virtually anything, including FLAC, off USB drives. And it has Linux inside, so it may be hackable to fix any flaws. Has audio, S/PDIF, HDMI, and composite video out.
