Can you use ENX bulbs in an FXL overhead?

Would I have any problems using an ENX bulb in my Dukane 4003, which is designed for 410w FXL bulbs? Are the sockets compatible and everything? Would the ENX bulb have a shorter life because the power is more?

I have a 3M 9700 that uses the FLX - I had my bulb die and replaced it with a ENX - I watched Stargate SG1 and Dead Like Me with no problems (so about 3 hours) with no ill effect until my replacements came in tha mail 😛

Did you notice a big difference in the brightness?

Oh yea!

The picture is WAY duller that and you loss the vibrant colors so the end result is a bit washed out.

Stick with the FLX and only use the ENX as a back-up.

You can always try but it might either burn up fast or it may damage the OHP's ballast as the fan may not have enough CFM to move the hot air out fast enough - I've been tempted but I found a decent 3m 9700 for $70 - I figured better to have the right one 😛

I've actually asked this same question before also and never got a reply, IF you do try this consider upgrading your fan also

I will definitively try it, if I find that the enx is not bright enough for my needs. But I'm also considering completely retrofiting the ohp. Which ever route I choose I wil make sure to post my results.

Sorry I dont see an edit button. this is sort of an addon to my last post. take a look at this ebay auction. It says that you can get 3000 lumens with enx and 4000 with FXL. so I guess it should work either way. I guess its just a matter of cooling it.
