Can a 12 volt 1000 amp sla battery be used?

That's quite a battery! How do you carry it? 😀

If you mean a 1000 mAH battery, then yes. It will work fine, but it wont run long. Your average power draw on music (into 8 ohms) will be 110mA. So your battery "might" run 9 hours. But the voltage will sag during that time.

If you really did mean 1000 amp, why?

Have a look at my site for more info:

You'll want to look at the FAQ and POWER pages.

I'd guess that the '1000Amp' rating is the marketing-speak-translated peak current capacity of the Battery. ie Into a dead short circuit, it could deliver 1000amps of a few microseconds before destroying itself. That sounds high, but not totally unreasonable - most car batteries are in the hundreds of amps range.

I have no idea whether 1000Ah batteries exist, but it would be enormous, not to mention expensive. I'm not even sure where one would be used - a submarine?

Anyway, the T-Amp will draw as much current as it needs. As long as the voltage is at the right level (12-13V) you don't need to worry about blowing it up with too much current.
