Guys not sure if this is even an option, but thought I would ask...I recently bought two different PAM chips and they are currently being shipped over on a very slow boat, but noticed that are fairly simplistic in their functionality.

Yes of course you can, or you could just get one with a pot on board.

So how would you add those tactile push buttons on either of the two? I'm assuming you are modifying the output somehow? Sorry I'm a bit of a noob in that regard, I have only ever added a pot to a 2.1 class d board and that's because somebody had a guide 🙂
How would I? I wouldn't. Reducing the analog line signal is completely different to hacking the internal volume control in the chip, if you want push buttons to control volume then get an amp with push button controls on board.
