Infinity has several 6.5" component systems in your price range, the best being the Kappa 6.1 "Perfect" series that are absolutely superb. MB Quart and JL Audio also make fine sets that just fall into your price range. You might also look into the Focal line of components.
As far as subs go, $200 will get you a JL W3V2, Alpine Type-R, Kicker Solobaric, etc.

when you say beat,
what do you mean?
power handling? enclosure dependant.
sound quality, your personallity dependant?
cost? your wallet dependant?
beat is a broad word.
i like the peerless over the Polk, its more refined and has less boom.

Hi Troy 🙂 Small world!
There are so many small automotive speaker and sub manufacturers in the states you are really spoiled for choice, have a look at the likes of Elemental Designs, Adire Audio, Resonant Engineering, TC Sounds often have deals on end of line stuff.
often IMHO you get a better value for money product from smaller manufacturers, they don't have the big overheads and marketing budgets of the larger companies. Have a look and see what you think.
$200 should get you a very capable sub
As for comp sets, someone like indoaudio will be able to do you a silly deal on something like Phoenic Gold Ti Elites.
remember to budget for sound deadening, with high quality gear like this it make a real difference.

As for sound quality, I think Peerless is in a class above Polk. they follow two very different topoligies when it comes to whast sound should be like.
I vould altso recommend SEAS Lotus subs, they are quite impressive, and so is their other speakers,
I have come to know quite a lot of these thing as the norwegian champoion of car audio in the class below 250.000kr (ca37.000 dollars) was my teatcher last year.
