Can someone explain the series notch filter please

the nomenclature can be confusing - the parallel component filter is in series with the driver and resonant to raise Z at the frequency of interest. and vice versa with the series filter which is placed across the driver. Series is useful to damp free air or sealed chamber resonance z peak - inductor value and cost gets big at lower frequencies. I think the parallel filter is the one usually for frequency response peaks.

can good filters and usable xover be made with just a mic, RTA, some coils and caps? - its amazing to see the work of modern simulators.

I finish building this speaker last month, since I listen it in Munich and impressed with sound, but 5K euro is to much for me.
Unfortunate my best man make electronic so I can ask him, but I have same quality like W5SE , crossover is similar like on your images, but I need to check with electronic guy
I'll share some pict latter

Best way to learn this is to play with a simulator. 🙂

Download XSim and try it out yourself. Pay particular attention to the system impedance, and the voltage at the main coil and driver. 🙂

The value of R determines the effectiveness of the filter, or the size of the dip. If infinite, filter has no effect at all. If 0, filter depth is entirely bound by C/L.

Best,

E
