Hey guys.. new here.
I am running two sonics 800x amplifiers to power the woofer section of my Bryston Model T speakers. These amps are similar to a Bryston 7B NRB with some different circuitry (were used for imax theatres).
Anyhow they work great when powered up - lots of power. My concern is that when powering up/shutting down, they present a loud thump through the woofers. Is it easily possible to add a muting/soft start type circuit to these in order to a) protect my speakers and b) get rid of the noise?
Thanks!

I couldn’t find any service data for the sonics 800x, but I did find a schematic for 7B NRB and have attached the file.
Does your amp resemble the the schematic, especially does your amp have a speaker relay?

I'm having the same issue. I just got 4 of the Sonics 800x amplifiers. I'm running them to my full range line arrays similar to Roger Russell's IDS-25's. Nasty pop on startup and a crinkling sound ten seconds after shutdown followed by a suckout sound.
I had initially tested the amplifiers on a pair of individual Vifa TC9 bare drivers that had already been cosmetically beat up when originally building the cabinets, so I wasn't worried about them. The loud pop was worrisome but didn't seem to blow them. Figuring that the line arrays spread the load over 25 drivers, I was surprised that the pop was as loud as it was over the line arrays.
