Can multiple 6x9 fill in for a sub?

Hi,
I already have a pair of JBL CS396e (in the rear tray of my car). My pioneer deh-mp4750P player has a 4 channel amp out of which only rear 2 channels are currently used. I am satisfied with the sound except for bass. I don¡¯t want to go for a sub. Can I put another pair of JBL CS396e in the same rear tray and power them with the amps for the front to fill the missing bass? The player also has a parametric equalizer so I could set the EQ boost at 40Hz.
Although the amps are about 20 Wrms per channel, there could be sufficient bass since the JBLs are quite sensitive at 91db.

Has anyone tried this approach?

Thanks in advance,
Goldy

i once had 4-6x9's in my back deck with 400 watts...sounded like 2-10's...but could only get so loud.

using a subsonic filter is pretty important, cut out the lowest frequencies around 35hz and below and they can get alot louder...6x9's cant really play those notes with authority to well anyway...

i had mine hi-passed at 50 hz and up....so they werent actually mimicking a 'subwoofer' but a normal 'woofer'...
