I have been asked by my work to conduct one focus group interview and they don't want to spend money on gear because it is just one session.
I have the UMIK-1 USB Measurement Microphone that I've used for years for measuring my designs.
Forgive my ignorance, but can I use that mic for recording the session? I know I can use Sound Recorder on my laptop and have a clip on mic for one on one interviews, but in this case I need to record a whole group.

Most cal mics are non-directional.
If they are seated about a table or in an open circle place the mic in the center.
But because the mic is non-directional, it will pick-up background noise that humans hardly notice.
