I have an old nec mt projector with several hundred bad pixels, Can I use parts off of it for my diy 7" I am planning? I am thinking of using the lens and the ballast. The lamp is a 250w metal halide, would this ballast be compatable with the 250w hqi lamps?
Also when reflecting the image using mirrors would I need to use 7" mirrors or could I use the mirrors out of this unit. It uses 3x 3" lcds.

Hopefully you can get a replacment panel for the PJ but yes you should be able to get the Light + control out of it
