Talked to Rotel Service about the FP/FN1016's in the RB-991
It sounds like the previous owner had the FP/FN1016's put as a non-equivalent device as Andrew from Rotel has never heard of these devices in the RB991!
What a bonehead move on the previous owner!
SO I have some (slightly used) 10 FN1016's & 10 FP1016's for sale really cheap!
$20 for the lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dan,
I'm betting the previous owner was ripped off by a poor repair shop. I used to see those types of things all the time. It may not really be his fault, but rather the fault of the dude holding the soldering iron.

Schematic diagram for RB-991 shows what follows:

2. Drivers: 2SD1047/2SB817
3. Output 5 x 2SC3856/2SA1492

That's the only correct situation in Rotel RB-991 and RB-1080. I saw several opened amps and always the above devices are incorporated.
However, in lower models (such are: RB-971/RB-1050, RA-971/-1060/-1062), the output section "stops" at 2SD1047/B817, and for the bigger models, they serves as drivers for all models exept RB-1090 (they use 200w devices)
As for the Motorolla/On semi's, I know someon who had replaced the original OT with Toshiba 2SC5200/A1943, so it should work also with those OT
