Hi!
I just received a pair of Mark Audio Alpair 10.3.
I took them out of the box, placed them just on the table and plugged them into an amplifier to check if the drivers were working.
I've been listening to some vocal/jazz music for 2 hours or so at low volumes. No bass at all, and sometimes the sound is a little bit dirty... but I guess that's becuase they're not in a box 😛
The question is; can I do the break-in of the speakers like this?
Or should I always put the speaker in a box?
Thank you!

Hi,
If break in means anything, you don't need a box to do it.
rgds, sreten.
I mean, to do the speaker break-in...
😕
Just remember that you have no air spring to dampen movement at low frequency, so make sure you respect the xmax limits. Low volume should be fine.
And, yes, that does assume break in is actually important, which is questionable for a full range driver.

Just using them normally will break them in.
I bought 4 off 50 watt Fane speakers for a mobile disco and hammered them from day one. I used them for a few years before I sold them on still working great.

We give all our drivers at least 200 hrs just like that before working on them. At lowww level.

- Can I break-in the speakers right out of the box?
