Hi there,
I am thinking of building the following circuit
http://diyparadise.com/simpleel84.html
but I was thinking of substituting PL84's for the EL84. Yes I know that the PL84 is really a EL86 so I will have to change the operating point. I understand the EL86 will work at lower voltages and higher currents - can anyone sujest a good operating point for this one.

Hi Shoog.
I've a data sheet which suggests this values for PP mode:
VA = 250
VG2 = 200
Rl P to P = 5K5
RK = 150 (common)
Ia = 2x50 to 2x55mA
Ig2 = 2x2 to 2x13mA
Po = 18.5W
DHT =4.5%
If you use UL screen feed, you'll probably need to increase the bias a bit to restore 50mA plate current per tube at iddle.
Hope that helps
Yves.

I will probably be running this in Triode mode.
If so, look here:

Have fun,
