Is it worth to repair a cambridge audio cd 640c v.2? Optical and coaxial output are working but no signal from the analogue output. I have recently replaced laser assembly for $35. I don't know enough to diagnose what is the problem with the analog output.
All fuses are fine, no leaking/bulging caps. Few big ones have brown goo at the bottom, but it looks like a glue.
Local shop wants $100 for checking the player. Repairs up to what they say usually no more than $250.
It works as a transport well, but i need an analog output too. Is this problem a common thing or something unusual?

This seems to be a not unusual problem, Kristof.
An option would be to try an inexpensive external DAC such as the FiiO D3:

Have a look at the RCA solder joints on the PCB as I have had cracking of the solder in the past on some players.
I had exactly the same problem many years ago. It turned out to be R11 had gone high and was holding the mute relay in the mute position. From memory the resistor should measure 2K2. If it measures higher than this then it will need replacing.
Thank you so much, I have replaced R11 and the analog out is working again. I don't have to buy a new cd player for now, although I really wanted 😂. No reason now.
Without your advice I wouldn't have known where to look for the fault.
