cambridge audio 340a problems

Reasonably certain it is fixed now. Having had another chat with my brother this is my guess as to the sequence of events. The amp had already been in for repair under warranty once, my guess is that there was a dry joint/ too much movement on C45 so they then used some araldite to fix it down. When he then took the amp to university it worked its way loose again in the car, this was the source of the horrible noise on the left channel. He then plugged it into his iMac when he got to uni and then connected up his hard drive. However as the mac grounds the usb ports on the metal surround and he had already powered up the HD before plugging it in, a spark jumped from the usb onto the mac and then down the metal minijack, frying r10. So having replaced both components it now works fine, but there is a slight drop in level on the CD port. Decided against replacing the selector switch as it is surface mount and very fine pitch and 4 inputs is more than enough.

Thank you all very much for your help.
