30 years ago I had a pair of Beta 10 in a back loaded horn and I liked the bass.
Here you can find a drawing of the cabinet:

but the metal screwed around with the measurements 🙁
i think the surrounds are made of cloth as you can see the weave and also they are not opaque .
Doh! 🙁 The only way this could work is if the magnet has a stud to attach to or at least a pre-drilled/tapped hole for one.
OK, thanks!

This 'begs' the question maybe it's the spider?
No… definitly the surround.

Hmm, something has to soften it or they couldn't have made it, but not being a chemist I find it way too tedious to decode patents, chemical formulas, so out of suggestions for now if neither Wintergreen nor Vit, E skin oil doesn't work.
Did you try these types of oil heated up to hmm 115 deg like might happen on a really hot day in mid America?

I’ve not tried wintergreen yet as the last time I used it it made my tt mat swell up to twice it’s size! Lol
After giving it another clean with alcohol and running test tones through it for 4 hours I got the q(ts) down to 1.4 again, hopefully it stays but I doubt it.

some good news!
after last nights swap with ipa and a good loosening up session it seems to have stablised at 1.4 q(ts),still double the other driver but its come down from 2.1.
so there is hope, ive ordered some glycerin but it seems like the ipa is doing the trick.
i still dont really know how these measurements help with cabinet building but im in no rush so more reading to do.
just to say thanks guys for your tips and advice so far.

… with ipa...
IPA? Please. I went back but couldn’t figure out what that TLA means

Isopropyl alcohol - Google Search
it might be known under a different name where you are?
to correct my spelling,it should be swab and not swap 🙂

GM,
I tried lots of things but experiments with oils was waylaid by my hospital stay.

Know that problem way too well, hope you're mending properly, or better time wise!

Isopropyl alcohol
Thanx. Never seen it that way before. Isopropanol. Always the 1st thing i try — i buy it by the (US) Gallon (99%).

Thanks! I knew I was forgetting one, but just couldn't even think of a way to remember glycerin.
What percentage? I haven't found the cheap QTC 70% to be of much use in audio other than as a [spray] cleaner.

Interesting! Long time ago when still active was led to believe it wasn't available OTC, but see it's available ~3 mi away, though still pricey. Thanks!

Glad I’m not the only one! I thought he was referring to India Pale Ale. Well, it does have alcohol content so it might be worth experimenting with.

95% pure/190 proof grain alcohol? No clue.
Just noticed though that ethanol is a solvent and cheap enough, so maybe better than Isopropanol.

Hi Jamie,
sad to see your trouble with the drivers, and hope that you manage to bring them back to at least near to original specs... even your "better" driver is too far off from what is reasonable for a bass reflex box.
Keeping my fingers crossed...
Your clamping device for the measurements is a good thing, but of course it must be amagnetic.
Good luck and all the best
