C-Mos opamps in audio preamplifiers

Has anybody tried c-mos opamps in audio preamplifiers and can anybody report some experiences? I know that they have more noise than other types but I am interested how they sound?

I have not seen them used much because their noise levels are too high.

'were' is correct. Not too bad. In the ball park competitive regarding noise. So what other reason is there for their lack of popularity? Limited output drive? THD? Cost? I never used them but would if they offered any advantage in audio apps. I only thought of them for low power apps... low current drain kinds of apps. -RNM
