hi all im using a meridian 588-24 cd into a dbx260 and i would like to know if its possible to wire the meridian using the digital out into the dbx and bypass the a to d converter in the dbx.i feel this would be much better for sound quality as the dac in the meridian would be way better than the converter in the dbx

Possible but not without a lot of work.You would need to know the internal sample rate of the dbx260, the a/d chip and its master clock frequency and where it is generated. And there is more after that.
would it be worthwhile or would it be just as effective to uprade the ad converter and clock in the dbx .is there anything else that could be upgraded inside like opamps and such .i dont mind a bit of work if i can get some guidence . cheers
It would be better, in theory at least, to avoid a D/A - A/D cycle by using the digital connection between the Meridian and the dbx. Upgrading the A/D would call for as much if not more work than adding some form of digital input.
adding a digital input somehow to the dbx would be ideal unfortunatly they do not have one .im hoping someone here has got around this problem before and can provide some insite as to how .
Best of luck, but don't hold your breath. The dbx is used by very few 'philes especially as the DCX is cheaper and uses more generic components (I believe dbx use their own design ADC) and so is easier to modify.slr 5000 said:
