But "sonics as described by users" are not necessarily due to actual audible stimulus and may be either purely psychological or some combination of the two. And regardless of of the actual cause, users may well be completely satisfied.
So, when you say "work" do you mean producing an actual audible difference or do you mean a more ambiguous subjectively perceived difference?
No, I didn't say so in the first case because I saw no need to be so specific. The context of that comment was with regard to having a chemical analysis run on the ceramic.
Well, if a lot of the finer things in life are available only from frauds as you say here, then I guess I am missing out. Oh well.
Nope. Took it out of an EMail from a customer (with his permission).
Er, where exactly am I engaging in fraud?
Seeing as I didn't write it, you're talking to the wrong person. If you'd like, I'd be happy to ask him his permission to provide you with his EMail address so you can take it up with him if you've got a problem with it.
Nope. It's because it's one of those things I haven't got 'round to and isn't much of a priority for me.

Your principles must cause you a lot of missing out on some of the finer things, and it shows - glaringly so.

quote from Steve Eddy's site -
"Wow. I had to check twice. I unplugged and disconnected both my Stax headphone amp and Genesis subwoofer amps so the setup is simple: CD to InterFace to preamp to Rowland amp (which has input transformers). I swear the bass is back and this with stand mounted speakers!
There is a quality to the sound that reminds me of the Rowland preamp I had that also used input transformers. Overall, the sound is very clear and there is a noticeable lack of sibilance and high frequency grunge. I am absolutely hooked.

Nope. It's because it's one of those things I haven't got 'round to and isn't much of a priority for me.

Steve, You can stick to your principals all you like, but in future it would be much better that you keep out of particular threads, especially when it is stated initially and later very clearly that 'Experience of BQB only' and 'no flaming' - it seems like you just cannot help your negative outlook self.

Hi,
And what do you expect from such an analysis?
What gives you the right to call someone a fraud?
Do you actually have proof of that?
According to your reasoning anything that is beyond your understanding must be fraudulous, I find that rather telling.
Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?
Cheers,😉

The Empty Vessel Is Still Noisey...
Yes and anybody who can hear better than SE is fraud too it seems, or imagining what they hear according to him.
I feel that there is quite a lot that SE does not understand, hence his voiceiferous and consistent dipping in where inappropriate, and in the same manner in other forums too.
Fraudulent imo is two little transformers in a little box with a pcb, some damping and four rca sockets, and an unknown compensation network for the mere amount of US$575.00 - and not even a polarity reversal switch.
Oops, that's right I remember him saying that he cannot hear absoloute polarity - that tells much too imo.
If Steve says that BQP cannot work, then they cannot work and the creator is a fraud - yeah right sure thing Steve.
Go and take up gardening Steve, and leave it to the sensible ones.

Re: The Empty Vessel Is Still Noisey...
I believe that Steve's product is based on real and measurable engineering principles instead of pseudo physics. As for price, go build and market a product where decent cosmetics are required and you will find that is a fair market price and in fact a deal most likely in high end audio price terms. What is such an absolute phase advocate doing without a phase switch on his preamp already? As for fraud and certain engineering and physics claims, if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck. and smells like a duck: its probably a duck! Unless its a quantum duck and quarks like a duck I suppose ........
http://jesseland.phui.com/qdindex.html
P.S. Can anyone here tell my how a circuit with no reactive impedance component can reduce ringing on a squarewave. I am just a dumb BSEE with one course in Quantum Physics and I don't understand it.

Queer Quantum Quacks.
Hi Phred,
Yes I know that Steves box is based on standard principles.
A lot of pre-amps do not have a polarity switch, much less cd players, so his box is an opportune place to put one imo, and as has been said previously.
Dielectric absorbtion is a means of changing pulse behaviour is it not ?.
Resistive loss of the field around a conductor ala TDK ferrite slug around a cable is another means ?.
Please correct me accordingly.
Regards, Eric.

No..... I don't believe so.

Ferrites?
A Ferrite present a reactive impedance (changing with frequency) up to the frequencies where losses in the core material cause its permeability to decrease. It is still a reactive impedance over most of the frequency range.

Re: BYBEE.
Er, to find out what the ceramic is. If it's just your garden variety aluminum oxide or other ceramic rather than the "near superconductive" rare earth oxide ceramic Bybee claims it is, then folks can just make their own.
Absolutely.
First, let's check out the definition of fraud. From Webster's Ninth Collegiate:
1 a : DECEIT, TRICKERY; specif : intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right b : an act of decieving or misrepresenting : TRICK
Here is a quote from John Curl, a friend and associate of Bybee, posted publically on another board:
His website is unfortunately somewhat misleading, on purpose. (At least, that is what Jack told me).
And of course Danny, who sells Bybee's product said here in this thread:
Oh yea, the claims on the web page are BS.
I assume Danny wasn't being sarcastic.
And if we check the definition of BS in this context, we have:
to talk nonsense to esp. with the intention of deceiving or misleading
Seeing as Bybee's web site is used as a sales and marketing tool for his product, please explain to me how this does not constitute fraud.
It's not about something being beyond understanding. Bybee hasn't offered anything TO understand. He's only offered BS for the specific purpose of preventing people from understanding (providing there's anything there to understand in the first place). And BS is beyond any understanding because well, it's BS. If it were understandable, it wouldn't be BS now would it?
Well, let's see. Even one of Bybee's dealers as well as one of his close friends and associates acknowledge that there is BS on Bybee's web site. So unless there is some other definition of fraud that somehow negates the definition I offered, I think the case for fraud has been established.

Re: The Empty Vessel Is Still Noisey...
No, only those who intentionally mislead or deceive are frauds. The issue of fraud has absolutely nothing to do with what people purport to hear. The fraud is about the intentionally erroneous and misleading claims on Bybee's web site. Intentionally erroneous and misleading claims that according to John Curl, Bybee himself acknowledges.
I've never claimed to understand everything. But I do understand that making false and intentionally misleading claims about a product one sells constitutes fraud.
It's not fraud at all. I don't attempt to pass off the InterFace as anything more than what it is. I make no BS claims about it whatsoever.
The "unknown compensation network" is a 13k ohm resistor in series with a 620 pF capacitor which is tied across the transformer's secondary winding. It's purpose is to damp the high frequency resonance when the transformers are driving loads higher than their ideal 10k ohm resistive load. If the load you're driving with it is 10k ohms, the network can be bypassed.
What this tells us that you need to get your memory checked as I have never said any such thing.
What I said was that I don't know if the differences I perceive with regard to polarity reversal are actually due to polarity reversal or something else. Since I really don't care, I haven't bothered to perform any adequate blind testing to find out. And not knowing either way, I can't rightly make any claims one way or the other.
Except that Steve has never said they cannot work. I have only said that if they do anything at all, it has nothing to do with the BS claims made by Bybee. If they did, then the claims wouldn't be the BS that even John Curl and Danny admit they are.
Or are you saying that Curl and Danny are liars?

Re: Re: The Empty Vessel Is Still Noisey...
Actually if I priced it at the not uncommon "rule of thumb" of five times parts cost, instead of selling for $575, it would have to sell for $1,450.
Parts cost for a small run of 10 is about $430. A run of about 25-30 units brings it down to about $290. So it's priced at just a hair under twice the parts cost for the larger runs.
I think that's fair, given that it doesn't include my labor for the woodworking and assembly.

There's no battle here. I'm simply speaking my mind, which others are free to take or leave. If there's any sort of battle, it's with those who persist in claiming I've said things I've never said and believe things I do not believe. Other than that, there's no battle.
