I'm not looking for the cheapest tubes of eastern europe. I'm on a vacation and trying to see a little bit more then touristic scenes...
It seems you think I should just stay at home. Lets agree to disagree, ok?

I, for one, do fully support you! I did some tube digging in Brasil and Mexico, and it was really fun, all people looking at the foreigner digging through old boxes with tubes: what is he doing? Why does a "rich" european dig through stuff that ain't worth a penny to us "poor" brazilians/mexicans? What are we missing? stamped on their faces. I spoke Portuguese-Spanish, so that was a bit different than an eastern european country, but I have thought multiple times about including a tube buying day when doing a trip to an eastern european country. Maybe take a tube or two with me, look for some electronic shops, show it and see how the thing progresses from there 🙂

Unfortunately Ukraine ain't a place I would like to go at the moment.

good luck and good fun in Bulgaria!

Don' t expect tubes are in abundance or less expensive in eastern countries. At least here in my country it is difficult to find a source. The only shop I know has crazy prices, and I am sure they purchase from where anybody can from the web. This is because "nobody" is interested in tubes, therefore shops don't keep them.

I purchase my tubes from Eurotubes.com in the US.
And they do export to some countries.
I had some shipped to a friend in Asia, and it took about 1 Week.
The postage was not expensive in that case.

Eurotubes.com does extensive re-testing of the JJ tubes that they purchase directly from JJ in Europe.

There might be a distributor in Europe that will sell to you.
Just one more possibility.

For most of the tube types I use, JJ has those models.

Bringing tubes back across the border might be interesting.
One time I was stopped at the airport, I was carrying a transformer with me, on a trip back from CES in Las Vegas.

The periodic ham radio flea market in Budapest was a good sourcing opportunity, but now it pauses (due to the Covid).

I collected from here many tubes (mostly from dismantled equipment or military surplus), but lately it's been exhausted. Now only the rest is circulating in the market.
