Buying Jordans in the UK?

Things have gone pear-shaped with Jordan units ever since T. J. sold up. The new owners have been moving manufacturing facilities to various places, as I understand it, with questionable success, and the drivers manufactured since then have met with a mixed reception in some quarters.

FWIW, may I point you toward the Mark Audio units? The Alpair10 should be a good alternative, and MA also appear to be taking the concepts used in the Jordan drivers to the next level. Plus, you should actually be able to get hold of a pair reasonably easily, which is more than can be said for the old Jordan drivers at present. Just a suggestion. http://markaudio.com/

We do seem to be missing some distributers in the UK, the importing option is a pain. Are European distributers easier to deal with in regards to import duty, postal costs, import tax, delivery charge to pick up point tax, etc etc oh VAT forgot that.
misspelt charge!

Hi John and Marce,

There are 2 Markaudio dealers in Germany, 1 in Holland and another in Italy, all English speaking. They already supply other countries in Europe so they should be able to help.

We've been busy developing our website trying to make it easier for audio builders world-wide to get support. It's still work in progress so contact me if you having any difficulties.

You can check with us by using the contacts section on our site.

Details are on: www.markaudio.com

Thanks

Chris

Are the alpairs a drop in replacement for the JX92s?

or... if they jordans work well in a certain box, is it likely the alpairs will do so too?

My measured data (very close to factory) is also withing reason the same as the Jordan factory data (unlike the samples i had), so any design based on the factory numbers (most of them) should work pretty well with the Alpair 10.

I was planning on a Fostex BIB but kept looking at the Jordans and that cute triangular speaker design, although the SPL is on the low side. The Atairs are even lower and my Monica dac isn't that loud. Back to BIB I think.

Wilmslow Audio has the Fostex 165K @ £73 minus VAT and Madisound has them @ $67. That's some difference or has Sterling really sunk that low? 🙂

Thanks for the replies, at least I know to cross the Jordans off my list now.

I'm in the UK, no problem buying from Markaudio direct. Got my Alpair 6's before Christmas and just received CHR-70's (nicely packed).
I had to pay some duty and VAT but no major drama. Looking at the German prices, it's still looks cheaper to buy direct from the guys in Hong Kong.

Jordan availability

Hi all,
I just want to say that all Jordan units are available, including Jx92S, JXR6HD and JX125NG. The 150 is under development now and shouldn't be too far away.
We don't have a web shop since we don't intend to sell direct, unless there's no other option.
A mail should work fine in that case, but I'm not sure why johnthedoctor didn't get a reply since I don't know your mail address. Please send a new mail if you still want information.

We are currently negotiating with a UK reseller. Meanwhile you can contact us at info@eadsweden.com. We will forward all mails to the new reseller when the time comes. Hopefully we can announce the reseller on our web page later this week.

Please note that www.EJJordan.co.uk no longer sells the drivers. All info can be found at www.eadsweden.com. Ted Jordan will maintain his web site and will still answer technical questions to a certain degree.

Regards,
Anders Fransén
