Hi guys,
I am a real newbie in this and would like to check with anyone who could give me any advice on choosing a LP player, looking at a couple of 2nd hands player over here in China, but not sure how to test them, and what to look out for.
Also am i correct to say that i can just connect the lp player via RCA to my amps, nothing more complicated then that right?
I did do a search on Lp players but don't seem to see any of these.
many thanks to anyu advice.

Hi marcusdeming
Not quite; you need to apply an RIAA correction curve to the output from the LP. This requires a phono preamp.
Regards.

i saw this NAd player which seems rather interesting n nice cosmetically
the LP board is also isolated, or should i say suspended from the chasis,
Btw how do i know if a RIAA is good, how should i select a LP player

Decide on how much you are willing to spend.
We'll assume that you are looking for solid state only.
Read as much info and feedback on audio/vinyl related forums as you can find. Ask questions relating to units in your price range. Hopefully this will narrow your potential candidates to 2 or 3 units.

Start with anything.
Try to get an old planar 3 preferably with rb300 tonearm.
That's what I started on, still have it.
Start with a cheap preamp and get a better one when you can.
Try to divide your free cash between lp's and upgrades.

whats the general opinion of this turntable the NAD 5120, it should set me back by abt US$185 with a solid state preamp..

OK, nothing very special. I would much rather have a second hand Rega.
I would be very surprised if the NAD was worth anything very much these days, so I hope that most of the cost you mention is for the phono stage,

Which is the phono stage you have in mind?Rega Planar 2 or 3 are good, perhaps a Thorens 166 if you can find one at the price you are looking for. There is a Tonar Vinyline MM/MC phono stage,
imo the best budged phono stage you can buy.

I just need to wait for the arm to come along, I just got a new lid for the rega, fantasic, not a scratch, and the TT will be in lovely condition.
I'll be putting it on ebay in about 10 days if all goes to plan.
Here is what I am selling:
*rega planar 3, with R200 arm and new lid and new Audio technica cartridge, only a budget MM cart.
*Yaqin MS12B riaa tube preamp with phono and line input, and two different voltage outputs
*Ortofon MCA76 headamp, to boost signal coming from MC cartridges
*Kimber Tonik 50cm OFC cables
*Van Den Hul 40cm silver cables ("the Bay C5 interconnect) terminated one end by neutrik, which I used to hang my headphones on.
Yes I made it out of one lead.
*and a alphason hifi stand.
I'm atarting bidding at 850AU for the lot, maybe even start it at 1100 with my denon DL301II MC cart thrown in.
Well, I won't throw it in .
It's new, I've only given it the 20 hours it needed so far.
